So my family's cell phone contracts don't end until mid 2015. Why am I so obsessed with smartphones?? I think that I like smartphones a lot because they are always changing and there is a new one shoved in your face at least once a month by some brand that screams "LOOK AT ME!!!!!!!!".
 When I bought my first phone almost a year and a half ago, I thought that I wanted a Blackberry. I had wanted one back in 2007 when they were all the rage, and every year afterwards until 2012 upgrade time. Had I actually upgraded in April, like I could have still with the early upgrade system that Verizon still had then, I could have gotten the Blackberry Curve 9310. That would not have won me any oohs and ahhhs from people but I liked the keyboard and the plan that was offered for it then. Fast forward to 4 months later, when the only option was the Bold which was 2 years old already and still priced more than the Iphone  4 at the time, and the new Z10 and Q10s. Looked at them but didn't like the gestures for the new BB10 OS.
I then thought about getting an Iphone. My sister has one and so did many other people that I knew at the time. The sales person, in a pretty good tactic to push Android devices, stated that if I wanted what everyone else had, I should get an Iphone. If I wanted to be able to customize my phone and wanted something different, I should get an Android phone. I wanted a phone that, at the time, could withstand a beating from the floor or walls....should someone unruly fling my beloved phone forcefully. That ruled out Samsung and Iphone so I bought a Motorola Droid Razr HD.
I like it. Compared to the Iphone 6 and 6 Plus, my phone is positively a brick.
My phone is 4.7" and I thought reasonably slim. I tried to hold the Iphone 6 Plus and that phone is GIANT. I can hold it but I think I would look positively ridiculous holding a massive 5.5" phone to my tiny head and talking into it....or holding it in my small hands. I'll go with the Iphone 6 or, if my phone lasts past the 2 year mark(only one has.....and it's iffy) I would willingly wait to see what Iphone 7 had to offer. I've never been one for the latest and greatest simply because I don't want to pay a premium for it.
And, with me being slightly prone to buying a ton of accessories for my phone(I bought two KIN ONEm cases for my phone before I even had the phone....and then the phone up and died on me 5 months later and I got an entirely different brand of phone), I would love to be able to buy cases that fit my phone (U of M case, ect) and not have to worry about having a phone that doesn't have a case that I can buy at TJMaxx or Marshalls).
Looking forward to seeing what Samsung has up their sleeves in the coming year and also Iphone....I have an Ipad Mini and I would definitely upgrade the storage to 64 GB because my Ipad just has TV shows on it....ok it's got at least 15 TV shows and I cannot upgrade the OS without deleting a lot of TV shows....and that's all it has on it!
